Spark gap tesla coil

I have designed and built a spark gap tesla coil similar to what the inventor, Nikola Tesla, built. Unlike Mr. Tesla, I am using new film capacitors and a transformer, but other than theses differentness they are virtually the same. This tesla coil uses a static spark gap that enables a spark to jump 400 times in one second. This tesla coil has about 7.5 turns on the primary and 1000 turns on the secondary. This particular tesl coil uses one neon sign transformer, which produces 6000v AC at 60ma. This is only the start, and I hope to build even more in the upcoming years.

They were a success at last year’s event and for years have taken it to the EAA convention in Oshkosh and area parades.

TextNinja

TextNinja (by HYHAT) is the smart, fun way to realistically combat distracted driving.

The TextNinja app uses Bluetooth technology to communicate directly with the car (via OBD port, a standard diagnostics system in cars since 1996) to determine when the user is driving and to automatically silence text distractions.

Proper use of the solution is encouraged through positive incentives and gamification. Earning achievement badges, improving ninja belt ranking, and challenging others, transforms safe driving into a constructive social trend.

By providing a smart solution and connecting with other advocacy groups to spread awareness, TextNinja is taking serious action against distracted driving. Take the #textninjachallenge at http://www.text.ninja/, and let TextNinja start protecting you!

The Glue Looper®

THE GLUE LOOPER® is a micro fluid applicator made for applying a VERY small amount of LOW VISCOSITY (i.e. – very thin) glue where you want it to go with very little or no trace of the glue.
It uses capillary action with LOW VISCOSITY CA (cyanoacrylic) glue. (It will capture and hold ANY LOW VISCOSITY liquid!)

The Immersive Flow Experience

The Immersive Flow Experience is an interactive, digital display for children and adults to experience the fascinating nature of air and water. The display works by projecting a digital fluid flow onto a wall then shadows cast by people or objects will disrupt and change the flow in real time. The display is aesthetically engaging as well as a great educational opportunity to learn how flowing fluid interacts with physical objects. Whether the display is used to learn how a bug’s shape interacts with the air, or see which power racer is the most aerodynamic, this interactive display is an exciting way to visualize fluid dynamics.

UWM Digital Craft Research Lab (DCRL)

The Digital Craft Research Lab’s goal is to foster innovative, creative research in the areas of design, craft, and art by combining advanced digital technology with traditional craft practice in an effort to educate students for the future. The DCRL fosters interdisciplinary design research, material research, and innovation through making. It is envisioned as a facilitator for partnerships between UWM researchers and regional businesses, nonprofits, arts organizations, other universities and schools.

UWM’s Digital Craft Research Lab provides undergraduate, graduate students and researchers with access to the latest technology in computer assisted design (CAD) and computer assisted manufacturing (CAM) technology called rapid prototyping. The Digital Craft Research Lab places these tools directly in students hands and places UWM along side of leading Art & Design programs in the country already incorporating this technology into their curriculum. Access to rapid prototyping technology provides a critical advantage to UWM students for career advancement. Rapid prototyping is becoming standard practice in art, design, consumer products, automotive, aerospace, and medical products industry, to name a few.

The Digital Fabrication Lab provides students with the ability to produce physical and digital models. Complex geometry can be fabricated using a variety of subtractive and additive processes, while digital models can constructed based on physical objects using contact and non-contact scanning.
